10th Anniversary
On January 15th, ten years ago, I released the first italian version of Theia: The Crimson Eclipse, a role-playing game inspired by the great classics of the '90s. To this day, it boasts over twenty thousand downloads and has two fan-translated versions in German and Spanish, in addition to the first official English translation. Thanks to it, I’ve met many people and fellow developers, and even today, I consider it — despite its flaws — a rough gem that I’ll always carry with me.
The game isn’t perfect, neither technically nor narratively, but it will always hold a special place in my heart, especially for the themes it tackles and the questions it raises, even if it sometimes does so in a somewhat naive way (I still have so much to learn, hehe). What are we willing to lose to follow our ideas? Are we ready to leave everything behind to do the right thing?
This illustration celebrates the first ten years of Theia, and who knows, maybe in another ten years (more likely eleven XD) I’ll make a similar post but talking about 5th ERA, the game I’m currently developing. In any case, now is the time to roll up my sleeves and keep moving forward, confident that sooner or later, my efforts will be rewarded. Per aspera ad astra.
